WE RAISED $42,280 FOR THE MOVEMBER CAMPAIGN
Every year in November, CASA Cares puts together a team, JMoSB, who work very hard and put on events for the sole purpose of raising funds for Movember Canada. Since 2003, this charity has funded over 1,250 men’s health projects from mental health to prostate cancer. This organization works based off of community involvement in 23 different countries around the world, to improve the lives of men everywhere. We are so glad to be able to support them year-after-year from our own little community.
JMoSB Mo Matchup Cup
As friendly competition, 15 Concordia student subsidiaries competed this year, to see who could raise the most money for the Movember Foundation. Every week, the subsidiaries were pitted against one another to share their best mustachio’d pictures, and to raise the most money. In the end, and with a victory margin of less than 200$, JMIBA took the crown this year by raising $4, 905 collectively. Congratulations to JMIBA for this first-time win, and your engagement to the cause throughout the month.
Mo’ Focus on Health
This year, we put on two unique events encouraging our students to move and donate. Health is the focus of Movember after all. With our Mo’flexing less stressing yoga class at Sattva Yoga, and our Spin in Mo’tion spin class with SpinCo, JMSB students were sweating, focusing on their health, and raising funds in one fell swoop! As a bonus, our online art therapy workshop with Vive helped our students take a breather and focus on the importance of mental health.
Stache It Up Contest
We challenged our students to compete for various prizes, with stache pictures in three categories: “The Celebrity Stache”, “The Wackiest Stache” and “The Realest Stache”. This fundraiser is one of our most unique, and the submissions were hilariously creative. In the end though, only three students could take home our prizes: a JMSB ticket bundle, a Klub Athletik 20 membership, and a Beadlington care bundle.
The Stache Bash
Our biggest event of Movember, the stache bash, was completely sold out this year. Students were eager to celebrate all of this month’s success, and watch a few of their classmates get their staches waxed. As we came second in raising the most money of any English university in Canada, there certainly was reason to celebrate!
